Film Poster and Magazine Cover Research

PLANNING:

MAGAZINE COVER:

MAGAZINE

The main features for a film magazine cover is the main image of the film, the masthead, slogan and the film title. This is what initially catches a readers attention. Finer details such as date of issue and the bar code can be added in after. I plan to photograph my actresses together, with eye catching colours which I will edit in on Photoshop.

POSTER:

I also created a simple layout for a film poster which I can easily follow. I plan on making two edition of these, as I have two main characters in my trailer, it will allow the audience to choose their favourite and have a more personalised merchandise. Depending on the composition of the photos I use, the layout may be slightly different; for example, the title may be at the top rather than the bottom so as to not cover the characters face.

FILM POSTER INSPIRATION:

I have used these film posters for inspiration due to their bold colours and simple composition. I like the idea of having a block colour theme as shown in the Red Sparrow poster, to create a striking image.

FONTS:

The image below shows all of the fonts from DaFont that I may use for title screens, my film poster and my magazine cover. I chose these because of the graphic, distorted affect which compliments my crime trailer concept as being psychological and challenging.

BILLING BLOCK:

The below text shows my final draft for a billing block for my film poster. My group and I followed templates on other films such as Drive and Shutter Island.
